When is the submission period?<\/strong><\/p>\n You can submit your original works here<\/a>, from now till 16 July 2017, 11.59PM (GMT+0800).<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Are there any age restrictions?<\/strong><\/p>\n All entrants must be aged 15 years old and above (for those born on or before 31st Dec, 2002)<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Is this strictly for Singaporeans only?<\/strong><\/p>\n No, all Singapore Citizens, Singapore PR or foreigners living in Singapore with a valid student or work visa or long-term visiting pass are welcomed to take part in the festival.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Must the demo track by sung by the songwriter(s) himself\/herself?<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n No, you may get someone else to sing for your demo, but do indicate the name of the singer(s) in the registration form.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Can I submit with just lyrics (or melody) only?<\/strong><\/p>\n No, application has to be for a full song with both original lyrics and melody. If you are only able to write the lyrics\/melody, you may like to find a friend to complete the full song and take part in the festival together.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I am a signed writer to a Music Publisher, can I still take part?<\/strong><\/p>\n Yes of course! However, please do get your publisher’s consent\/ approval before taking part. We will not own the copyright of the song(s) submitted for SG:SW2017, the copyrights of the song still belongs to the songwriters entirely. However, should the song(s) submitted be selected and awarded (which includes the recording and release of the winning songs), the songwriter\/music publishers must not charge an upfront royalty fee for the use of the song.<\/p>\n Therefore, by submitting your original work for this festival, the songwriter(s) acknowledges and agrees that no upfront royalty fee will be required by the songwriter\/music publisher should the submitted song be recorded and released (as part of the winning prize).<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I have submitted an original song for another song writing event, can I still use the same song for SG:SW2017 ?<\/strong><\/p>\n Yes, you can. However, please declare the name of the other song writing event during your registration for SG:SW2017.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n If my song is selected for Live showcase and\/or Finale concert, can I engage others to sing\/perform on my behalf? <\/strong><\/p>\n Yes, the festival emphasizes on originality, thus the participating songwriter(s) are in the best position to decide on how they would like to present their original song (be it as a solo, group or band performance etc.). However, it is mandatory<\/strong> for the song to be performed with at least 1 live music instrument, with the exception of group Acappella style.
